Dr. Z S Meharwal

About

Dr. Z S Meharwal has more than 38 years in cardiac surgery and more than 30,000 operations to his credit, and leads adult cardiac surgery, heart transplantation and the ventricular assist device programme at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. He was part of the founding team of doctors at the institute. He is among the small number of surgeons in India performing heart transplantation and ventricular assist device implantation, and directs the hospital's DNB training programme in cardiothoracic surgery. He entered the Limca Book of Records in 2008 for a coronary bypass on a 94-year-old patient.
