About
Dr. Krishna Subramony Iyer has practised paediatric cardiac surgery for more than four decades and chairs paediatric and congenital heart surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. In 1995 he established northern India's first dedicated paediatric cardiac programme at what was then Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre. He has operated on more than 14,000 children with congenital heart disease, from across India and from more than 15 other countries, and performed India's first successful rapid two-stage arterial switch and double-switch operations. He is a founder president of the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Cardiac Society and of the Society of Paediatric and Congenital Heart Surgeons, a past president of the Paediatric Cardiac Society of India, and has more than a hundred publications.
