Dr. Ashok Rajgopal is Group Chairman of the Medanta Institute of Musculoskeletal Disorders and Orthopaedics, Gurugram, and has performed around 40,000 total knee replacements along with more than 60,000 arthroscopic operations for sports injuries. He performed India's first bilateral total knee replacement, its first minimally invasive joint replacement, its first virtual total knee replacement using patient-specific instrumentation, and was the first in the country to use gender-specific knee implants. He designed and patented instruments for minimally invasive knee replacement that are now used by surgeons internationally. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2014.
