About
Dr. Anil Bhan chairs cardiac surgery at the Medanta Heart Institute, Gurugram, with more than 35 years in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery and over 15,000 operations to his credit. He studied at Government Medical College, Srinagar, and PGIMER, Chandigarh, and completed his MCh at AIIMS, New Delhi, where he later served as Additional Professor of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. He was part of the team that performed India's first successful heart transplant in 1994, and holds one of the country's largest experiences in aortic surgery. His work also spans paediatric cardiac surgery, valve repair and peripheral vascular surgery, and he has designed more than 50 instruments for cardiac procedures.
