Dr. K.K. Handa chairs ENT and head and neck surgery at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, a department he has led since the hospital opened in 2009, with more than 36 years in the specialty. He was previously Associate Professor of ENT at AIIMS, New Delhi, for 13 years, and a senior resident at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He is regarded as one of India's foremost voice and laser surgeons, and introduced laryngeal framework surgery, transoral robotic surgery and botulinum toxin injection for spasmodic dysphonia to the country. His practice also covers cochlear implantation and endoscopic sinus surgery, and he is a former president of the Association of Phonosurgeons of India, which he also founded as secretary.
