Dr. Ajay Kumar Kriplani heads minimal access, bariatric and gastrointestinal surgery at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, with more than 40 years of experience and among the first surgeons to introduce laparoscopic surgery to India. He performed the country's first laparoscopic adrenalectomy and laparoscopic splenectomy, and North India's first laparoscopic Whipple pancreatico-duodenectomy. He is a past president of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons and introduced its fellowship programme. He has held posts at Safdarjung Hospital, AIIMS, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital and the Sitaram Bhartia Institute, all in New Delhi.
